David E Appleford IEng FIED MInstPI

David is an applied engineering designer and serial inventor with c. 50 granted patents to his name.
​
He has served the subsea industry in various roles as a practical subsea engineer. In 1989 he founded Alpha Thames to consolidate this experience and set up a team of mature multi-disciplined senior engineers.
David is a hands on engineer and designer and leads from the front ensuring attention to detail at every stage.

Brian W Lane - Senior Engineering Designer - Director

Brian is a special purpose machinery designer with a similar background to David Appleford. Before joining Alpha Thames, soon after its inception, he had worked on the design of mechanical subsea connections and had also been involved in design for car manufacturing and sophisticated channel tunnel boring machinery. He is also named as an inventor in various subsea systems and components.
Roy Martin FCA - Contracts Administration - Director

Roy ensures that contracts are properly implemented and are kept within budget and time scales.
He had worked in a variety of professional practices before joining Alpha Thames in the early 1990's

As Subsea Engineering projects last for several decades it is important to employ mature senior engineers with a wealth of experience to ensure compliance in a conservative safety and environmentally conscious industry. To this end Alpha Thames will only employ candidates with practical applied engineering backgrounds.
